Consider this card when your images or sequences approach the limit of a 24 GB setup. This could be a character with multiple textures, a denser environment or a workflow that combines generation and upscaling. First establish what is occupying memory before changing the scene.
A 32 GB card does not guarantee that a given project will fit: the most demanding step may come at the end. Keep the same file and the same settings to assess the change in setup.
Check Blackwell support
The RTX 5090 belongs to the Blackwell generation. Your version of Blender, the driver and the compute components must recognize this generation. For ComfyUI, also check PyTorch and the compiled extensions: an old installation may work with another NVIDIA card without supporting this one properly.
Before a full animation, open your project, run a short computation and check the exported image. Document the versions that pass this test so you can repeat your trials in a consistent environment.
Decide between 32 and 48 GB
If the memory peak measured on the full processing already approaches 32 GB with no headroom, compare directly with the RTX 6000 Ada or the L40S, both at 48 GB. If your trials stay comfortably within 24 GB, the RTX 4090 is also worth considering. Do not turn this comparison into a promise of speed: timings depend on the processing, the settings and the transfers.
Freeze the environment after the Blackwell test
Note the version of Blender or ComfyUI, the driver and the extensions that passed your trial. Prepare a copy of the environment before any modification. The test must go all the way to the exported file; its measured time, plus the planned validations and rework, guides the choice of 3, 7 or 30 days.
Review the RTX 5090 configuration and the number of lots in the quote before saving the order and selecting the crypto. For an animation, keep a reference render with the same color settings as the final output. If you change a dependency, redo this reference before launching the rest of the sequence.
